Oil Painting Workshop with Robert Tompkins
Robert Tompkins is an impressionistic oil painter based in Montana, specializing in a painterly style that bridges realism and abstraction. His work features thick textures, bold brushwork, and a focus on light and value, often focusing on landscapes, florals, and animals.
This two-day workshop will focus on basic principles of drawing, design, color, color mixing, texture, edges, brushework, palette knife, value & starting a painting.
Class will be structured with a demonstration followed by supervised painting session each day as well as critiques.

| Requirements: | Suggested supplies: canvases or canvas/linen panels, no larger than 16x20, recommend 11x14, 12x16, Assorted brushes appropriate for oil paint & a palette knife, Paper towels or cloth rag Mixing medium such as small bottle of walnut or linseed oil or galkyd. Gamsol for cleaning. Oil paints can be oil or water soluble. Suggest an assortment or small individual tubes. Suggested colors: Cadmium Red Alizarin Crimson Cadmium Yellow Pale Cadmium Yellow Medium Yellow Ochre Burnt Sienna Ultramarine Blue Sap Green or Viridian Titianium White If desired, Cobalt Blue & Ivory Black & Magenta. |
